Teens Against Tobacco Use
The TATU program educates teens about the dangers of tobacco use and teaches them how to educate younger kids through creative and interactive anti-tobacco presentations.
Why TATU?
If we do nothing, 24,000 Idaho kids will die prematurely from tobacco use.
Tobacco addiction starts early. Tobacco companies target youth to replace the 440,000 people killed by their products each year.
When teens become aware of the tobacco industry's attemp to manipulate them into addiction, they turn from potential customers to consumer advocates.
Younger kids are impressed by TATU teens. The anti-tobacco message carries a lot of power when delivered by their older peers.
How to Get Involved
TATU is offered free to schools and community groups.
To schedule a TATU teen training or to request a TATU presentation for your school or group, contact Jan Flynn, Tobacco Control Manager, at 208-345-5864 or jflynn@alaw.org.
"TATU is clearly meeting the states goals and provides an effective peer teaching model which is resulting in improvements in knowledge and beliefs for both the teens and their younger classroom participants."
