As individuals, we often have little influence over the decisions made on our behalf in Boise and Washington D.C.. But together, we can have a strong voice to encourage the critical issues that affect us all: sound public policies to fight tobacco use, educate and ensure quality health care for those with lung diseases like asthma and COPD, and promote air quality through our Idaho legislators and representatives.

Our success in achieving these objectives depends on the number of people we can get involved in the legislative process.

The Lung Action Network is a group of statewide community of advocates who support the mission of the American Lung Association® in Idaho and are dedicated to encouraging sound political policies that protect the health of Idaho citizens. We work through the legislative and regulatory processes to reduce tobacco use among children and prevent involuntary exposure to secondhand smoke, improve air quality, and ensure affordable, high-quality health care for all residents of Idaho.

How does Lung Action Network work?

The American Lung Association® in Idaho understands that your time is precious. As a Lung Action Network member, you will receive access to quick and easy online advocacy tools to assist you in effectively contacting your policy makers and being an active, effective advocate for lung health issues.

• Legislative Update Messages - regarding legislation relating to American Lung Association® in Idaho issues.
• Automatic Elected Officials Look Up - The online advocacy system determines your state and federal elected officials based on your voting address and zip code.
• Advocacy Messages - Advocacy Messages will include background information regarding crucial legislation before your representatives, a sample letter (which you can send as is or customize with you own language) urging support of or opposition to the legislation, and contact information for the appropriate decision makers.
• Tell-a-Friend - Easily pass along information to others you know to multiply the voices for lung health.
