State of the Air
Annual State of the Air Quality Assesment.
More than 10,000 people in Idaho suffer from Asthma. When levels of air quality drop, daily life becomes harder for thousands of Idaho residents.
Here are solutions of how you can improve our air quality by making decisions that will impact all of us:
- Buy a fuel-efficient car, such as a gas-electric hybrid car
- Learn how to get involved with alternative transportation
- Replace your gas powered yard equipment with manual or electric equipment
One Idaho city making strides to improve air quality is Lewiston; they earned a spot on the list of cleanest cities for shortterm particle pollution in the American Lung Association®'s current national report on air qulity. In the same report, Ada County showed the most improvement of any county in the state, with fewer days for short-term exposure to particle pollution, improving its grade to C from an F in the 2005 report. Idaho had six counties listed among the cleanest counties in the nation for short-term exposure to particle pollution. Three counties—Butte, Canyon and Elmore—ranked among the cleanest for ozone.
